And he sucked her and he sucked her and he sucked her dry!

You know what?! I have a new boyfriend. His name is Nick Cave!
On July 29th Nick Cave and his project-band GRINDERMAN played in Wrocław(Poland).
The gig was a part of international film festival 'new horizons'.
I wasn't into that band so much till the day of this show. I was on the road for over 6 hours and my iPod was dying of Grinderman overdose!
After getting out off the train we(me, my cousin, our friend and her brother) went for a dinner( very important fact) and after the dinner we were looking for our hostel and in one moment it turned out into a race towards the wall of noise. It was NICK CAVE! I was an ear-guide and I got to Słodowa Island in 5 minutes without and map and knowledge about Wrocław. Anyway, we were on Grinderman's rehearsal and sound-check! We heard Heathen Child and Get it on.

We went again there at about 7 p.m and I was so excited....that for the first time I didn't care about security etc. or  I just didn't give a fuck 'bout everything except the gig. As a result I had my analogue camera in my bag. I was entering the festival area when the security guide asked me to open my bag. She noticed the camera and we had a little argument, because she wanted me to throw my camera away and I wanted to take it for the concert. At the end someone told me to give it to hotel's reception which was nearby.

I went there and I got neon pink concert band. Gig started at about 9 p.m.
Nick was amazing. Warren was playing violin, guitar, mandocaster and maracas.
They played
Get It On,
 Kitchenette,
 Grinderman,
When My Baby Comes,
Heathen Child and so on!
Nick was in great shape. He was jumping all around and singing. He had great contact with audience. I was out of space.

One of best shows in my life! AND WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT I NEARLY TOUCHED NICK CAVE!  I was standing first in 7th row and then in 4th. The best moment of all that gig: Nick Cave jumped onto barrier and went into/onto crowd and silenced everyone and shouted 'GIVE ME YOUR MONEY'.

I think I don't have to write about musical-technical aspects of that gig, because everything was perfect. The stage was kind of small so you could feel this energy floating between musicians. The sound was great but Grinderman was the greatest! They started with Mickey Mouse And The Goodbye Man. Then Get It On, Heathen Child, No Pussy Blues, Honey Bee(Let's Fly To Mars), Worm Tamer, Evil, Bellringer Blues and for the great final: Love Bomb which was introduced by Nick's speech about Polish policeman. Great Guy. Great Gig. Great Grinderman.

I have some photos of us in Grinderman's t-shirts. I'll upload them later.
I was on Robert Plant's gig 2 days ago and tomorrow I'm going for OFF festival ( warpaint, gang of four, mogwai, xiu xiu and so on!

Greetings!

FOO FIGHTERS

WASTING LIGHT

Listening to the last Foo's album is not the waste of time*, for sure. This one of the best rock albums came out in April '11. I really appreciate the idea of recording
                                                                             1) at home
2)on tapes------> it's returning to the roots of rock, punk or grunge cause this album refers a lot to 80's and 90's hard rock music. This may be happening because of Pat Smear( former Germs' guitarist) coming back to Foo Fighters.

You can hear that this album leads right off to their great technical skills as a musicians and also love and devotion to music.

Clicking and ticking of record switching on in stereo player had been broken by hard crunchy guitar leading to the curtain of Bridge Burning. Classic riff at the beginning but not the one from the group 'hey I've heard it somewhere before'. Taylor playing along on the drums to guitar strumming. MASTERPIECE!!! Chorus reminds me of old Foo's songs. That means that they're not changing their style just for need of a new CD. Grohling ( growl+ Grohl+ singing) is also amazing!
Guitars on this album are separated so no shit is happening. By the word 'SHIT' I mean mixing up all guitar tracks and putting them into one and the same line. Every different guitar melody or riff is apart that's why you're paying so much attention to what they're playing. The one thing I miss on this album is some guitar solo, you know just one guitar, bass and drums.
ROPE- I hope you'll understand my word formation: fresh-classic. I really found this song classic-fresh one! Let me explain: riff+guitar solo+ hard drums+ different rhythm actions(and these are fresh). Dear Rosemary is one of those songs which are taking all your energy from you to keep you chilled and right before chorus song is giving this energy back but doubled. Those Beatles-styled drums <3
White Limo is the weakest song- I just don't like it.
Arlandia: keeping the concept of simple harmony of muted guitars broken by some melody. In this song you can hear the personality of every of three guitarists. From the third minute slapping bass is making this yeasty atmosphere- YOU'RE WAITING FOR MORE BUT THIS STORMY SOUND IS FILLING YOUR SOUL. In 'these days' they're playing one more time with rhythm and ad Dave's singing 'BUT IT'S ALL RIGHT'.
Back&Fourth- song gathered all concepts from other songs making one 3:52-lasting masterpiece.
A matter of time- simple melody but Dave's play with high and low notes on vocals is making this song really interesting.
Miss the misery- Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame?
                          Intro 1-Jimi Hendrix
                          Intro 2- Metallica
                          Guitar and chorus- The clash

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT ONE OF THE BEST SONGS IS AT THE END OF THIS ALBUM!
Building the pressure by string section.
VOCALS(Dave Grohl)- is he really a husband and daddy- I WANT HIM!
I'm speechless! I have to point out that in this song Krist Novoselic plays bass.
Great harmony! Finally bass is beating other instruments
emotional, sensational rock ballad!

Walk-pleasure in headphones.
I love how they felt my heartbeat while listening to drums at the beginning. I have an impression that they're singing about me.

'Learning to walk again'---> after listening to the whole album I couldn't move, now you see?

*notice the cool analogy to the title of the album!

CONCLUSION:
GREAT!
You have to buy it!
GREAT!
You must buy it!
GREAT!
I'm going to see them in Paris! (wait for my account)
